Party Food & Appetizers calculators

Most party food questions reduce to one of two models: items per guest (tacos, pizza slices, sandwiches) or ounces per guest (salads, platters, chips). Both fall apart when you forget that kids eat less, that appetizer consumption depends on how long guests graze, and that “with dinner” and “instead of dinner” are wildly different rates. Each calculator here handles those inputs for its food, with per-person rates from extension services and catering references.

Which calculator should I use?

Pick the calculator for your format, not your ingredient: the taco bar tool counts tacos and converts to meat, tortillas and toppings, while the appetizer tool works per hour and asks whether a meal follows — the single input that swings the answer most. Platter tools (charcuterie, sandwich, fruit, veggie, chips & dip) work in ounces per guest and return shopping weight. If you’re serving several of these at once, run each at its “with other food” setting rather than its standalone rate, or you’ll buy for three parties.
